São Paulo needed a huge blunder from the opposing goalkeeper to open the scoring.
In the ninth minute, Luciano shot from outside the box towards Novoa, who tried to catch it but ended up parrying it into his own net. Novoa, at least, prevented Luciano from extending the lead with a backheel flick.
Millonarios only started attacking around the 20-minute mark, when they had their first shot on goal. It was a relatively dangerous effort and even required a great point-blank save from Rafael before halftime.

São Paulo concede the equalizer – and almost the lead
Novoa almost gave it away again at the start of the second half. He intercepted a cross towards Calleri, who couldn’t get a shot off. Bobadilla picked up the rebound but sent it over.
The match became subdued and relatively controlled. São Paulo lacked the impetus to aggressively seek a second goal to settle the match once and for all and ended up being punished.
Nine minutes from time, Dória misjudged a clearance in midfield, Hurtado collected the ball, advanced to the edge of the box, and shot to equalize. The deflection off Alan Franco left Rafael with no chance.
And in the 41st minute (of the second half), Dória made another mistake. He committed a penalty on Alex Castro, who Aqui estão algumas opções, dependendo do contexto exato e do nível de formalidade:
Opção 1 (Mais direta):
“He broke into the box. São Paulo’s luck was that Rodrigo Contreras got too much under the ball and skied it.”
“He got into the area. Fortunately for São Paulo, Rodrigo Contreras hit the ball too far underneath and blasted it over the bar.”
Opção 3 (Mais concisa):
“He invaded the area. São Paulo was lucky that Rodrigo Contreras got too much under the ball and sent it way over.”
